About this tool
Many audio editors, telephony systems and older devices require WAV files. This tool decodes your MP3 and writes standard 16-bit PCM WAV, keeping the original sample rate or converting to 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. Converting does not restore detail removed by MP3 compression, but it avoids further loss while you edit.
Frequently asked questions
Will WAV sound better than the MP3?
No. It sounds the same; WAV simply stores the decoded audio without compression, so the file is much larger.
Which sample rate should I pick?
Keep original unless your software requires 44.1 kHz (music/CD) or 48 kHz (video).
Is MP3 to WAV private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and processed in a private temporary folder on our server. The uploaded file and the result are deleted from the server as soon as processing finishes — whether it succeeds or fails — and the result is sent straight to your browser. If an upload is interrupted part-way, its temporary data is removed automatically within about 30 minutes. We do not keep copies.
