About this tool
Large images slow down websites and fill inboxes. This compressor re-encodes images at the quality you choose and can optionally cap the width, which is usually the biggest saving for photos taken on modern phones. You can see the before and after size for each file.
Good to know
- PNG output is re-encoded losslessly by the browser, so savings for PNG → PNG are usually small; use WEBP or JPG for bigger reductions.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my images get?
It depends on the image. Photos typically shrink substantially at 70–80% quality, especially when you also reduce the width. Screenshots and graphics may shrink less. The tool shows the exact result for each file.
Can I compress PNG and keep transparency?
Yes — choose WEBP or PNG as the output format. JPG output fills transparent areas with white.
What if the compressed file is larger?
Some already-optimised images cannot be made smaller. The tool tells you when the output is larger so you can keep the original.
