About this tool
Small or soft images often need to be larger for print, product pages or presentations. This enhancer runs Real-ESRGAN (realesr-general-x4v3), an open super-resolution model, directly in your browser to enlarge an image 4X while reducing blur, noise and compression artefacts. 2X is produced by running the model at 4X and resampling down, which gives cleaner results than plain resizing. 8X runs the model at 4X and then applies high-quality 2X resampling. A fast classic mode (high-quality resampling plus light sharpening, no AI) is also available. The model reconstructs plausible detail; it cannot recover detail that was never captured, so results depend heavily on the source.

Is my image uploaded?
No. The AI model runs in your browser, so the image never leaves your device.
Why is there a maximum input size?
To keep processing time and memory reasonable in a browser, the output is limited to 4,096 px on the longest side: up to 2,048 px input for 2X, 1,024 px for 4X and 512 px for 8X.
Will it make any photo sharp?
No tool can. The model adds plausible detail and removes common artefacts, but the result depends on the quality of the original. Faces, fine text and heavily compressed images may show AI artefacts.
How long does it take?
Usually a few seconds to a couple of minutes depending on image size, scale and your device. Classic mode is almost instant.
Which model is used?
Real-ESRGAN realesr-general-x4v3 by Xintao Wang et al., released under the BSD 3-Clause licence, converted to ONNX and run with ONNX Runtime Web.
