About this tool
Quiet voice notes and recordings are hard to hear on phones and laptops. Choose a fixed boost (+3, +6, +10 or +15 dB) — a peak limiter then keeps the loudest moments from clipping — or normalise to -16 LUFS, a common loudness for podcasts and spoken content. Processing runs on our server with FFmpeg.
Good to know
- Boosting also raises background noise — use the Audio Noise Remover first for noisy recordings.
Frequently asked questions
Will boosting cause distortion?
A limiter prevents hard clipping, but large boosts on already loud audio can sound squashed. Start with +6 dB or use normalisation.
What does normalise do?
It measures perceived loudness and adjusts the whole file to about -16 LUFS, so quiet files get louder and very loud files get slightly quieter.
Is Audio Volume Booster private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and processed in a private temporary folder on our server. The uploaded file and the result are deleted from the server as soon as processing finishes — whether it succeeds or fails — and the result is sent straight to your browser. If an upload is interrupted part-way, its temporary data is removed automatically within about 30 minutes. We do not keep copies.
