About this tool
JPG files are usually much smaller than PNG for photographs and screenshots with many colours, which makes them easier to email, upload and share. Transparent areas are filled with a background colour you choose, because JPG cannot store transparency.

What happens to transparent areas?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with the background colour you select (white by default).
Which quality setting should I use?
85–90% is a good balance for most images. Lower values give smaller files with more visible compression.
Is there a limit on image dimensions?
Very large images are limited by your device memory. Most phones and computers handle images up to around 8000 × 8000 pixels.
