About this tool
Share a DWG with someone who does not have AutoCAD. This tool reads the drawing's model space on our server with the open-source LibreDWG library and draws lines, polylines, circles, arcs, ellipses and simple text onto an A3-sized PDF page. It is meant for quick viewing and sharing: complex objects such as hatches, dimensions, MText, splines and xrefs are not drawn yet, and layouts/plot settings are ignored. Files are deleted right after conversion.
Good to know
- Basic 2D geometry only — hatches, dimensions, MText, splines and xrefs are not drawn.
- Model space only; layouts and plot styles are ignored.
- Some DWG versions cannot be read.
Frequently asked questions
Will it look exactly like a plot from AutoCAD?
No. Plot styles, line weights, layouts and many complex objects are not reproduced. For an exact plot, print to PDF from AutoCAD, DWG TrueView or another full CAD program.
Which DWG versions work?
LibreDWG reads most drawings from R13 through recent versions, but some newer or unusual files fail. You will see an error message if a file cannot be read.
Is my drawing uploaded?
Yes — DWG cannot be read in the browser, so it is converted on our server and deleted immediately afterwards.
Is DWG to PDF private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and processed in a private temporary folder on our server. The uploaded file and the result are deleted from the server as soon as processing finishes — whether it succeeds or fails — and the result is sent straight to your browser. If an upload is interrupted part-way, its temporary data is removed automatically within about 30 minutes. We do not keep copies.
