PDF to DXF
Extract the vector lines and curves from a PDF drawing into a DXF file for AutoCAD, LibreCAD and other CAD apps.
- Processed on our server — deleted when processing finishes
- Input: pdf → dxf
- Up to 50 MB per file
How to use PDF to DXF
- 1
Add a vector PDF (exported from CAD, Illustrator, etc.).
- 2
Click Convert to DXF.
- 3
Open the DXF in your CAD program and check scale and geometry.
About this tool
Got a floor plan or technical drawing only as a PDF? If the PDF was exported from CAD or a vector program, its lines and curves can be recovered. This tool reads the vector geometry with Poppler on our server and writes an ASCII DXF (R12, the most widely supported version) in millimetres, with curves approximated by short line segments and text included as outlines. One DXF per page; multi-page PDFs download as a ZIP. Files are deleted right after conversion.
Good to know
- Vector PDFs only — scans contain no lines.
- Everything on one layer as polylines; curves are approximated.
- Text arrives as outlines; up to 50 pages.
Frequently asked questions
Will it work with a scanned drawing?
No. Scans contain only a picture and no lines to extract; the tool tells you when no vectors are found. Raster-to-vector tracing is a different process.
Is the scale correct?
Coordinates are the PDF's page coordinates converted to millimetres. If the drawing was plotted at a scale such as 1:100, apply that scale factor in your CAD program.
Are layers, blocks and dimensions kept?
No. PDFs do not keep that CAD information, so everything arrives as polylines on one layer. Text comes in as outlines, not editable text.
Is PDF to DXF private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and processed in a private temporary folder on our server. The uploaded file and the result are deleted from the server as soon as processing finishes — whether it succeeds or fails — and the result is sent straight to your browser. If an upload is interrupted part-way, its temporary data is removed automatically within about 30 minutes. We do not keep copies.
