About this tool
Resize a video for a platform, a slower connection or a smaller file. Choose the resolution of the short side (1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p). Keep the original aspect ratio, or fit the whole frame into 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 with black bars so nothing is cut off. The result is an H.264 MP4 with the audio kept.
Frequently asked questions
Will resizing up improve quality?
No. Enlarging cannot add detail. For a cleaner upscale of short clips, try the Video Quality Enhancer.
Resizer or Cropper — which do I need?
The resizer keeps the whole picture (adding bars if the shape changes). The cropper fills the new shape by trimming the edges.
Is Video Resizer private?
Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection and processed in a private temporary folder on our server. The uploaded file and the result are deleted from the server as soon as processing finishes — whether it succeeds or fails — and the result is sent straight to your browser. If an upload is interrupted part-way, its temporary data is removed automatically within about 30 minutes. We do not keep copies.
